The weather was prefect, the sun shone brightly and throughout Over Peover, houses, hedges, gates and trees were decorated with bunting and flags. Outside the village school, tributes hung on the trees of remembrance. The school was instrumental in organising this and the heart messages brought home the bravery and efforts of previous generations.
At 11am the two-minute silence was observed and thoughts turned to those who had served our county during the conflict. At 2.55pm, The “Last Post” provided a further poignant reminder.
Residents then moved to their front gardens and grass verges to join in celebration. Music of the era added to the atmosphere and the afternoon was one long socially distanced party. Even the teddies had their picnics!.
It was a day the village will remember for a long time to come.
