The President welcomed 24 members.

The President read out the letter from East Cheshire Hospice thanking the WI for the generous donation of £218.38 collected at the Over Peover street party selling teas and cakes.

Over Peover WI had an article and picture in the Knutsford Guardian and an article in the Out and About Section of the Cheshire News.

Pictures and results of the Cheshire Show were in the August Cheshire News and it was great to see a number of our members names mentioned.

Repairs had been agreed and will soon be underway at the hall.

The Group Autumn meeting will be at Byley on the 28th October and Over Peover WI shall be organising the competition  which will be photographs of the celebration in a Village for the Queen’s birthday.

Future events:

The August Social meeting will be at the Plough & Flail on 25th August, a possible trip to the Manchester Arts Museum on 13th September and a trip to Liverpool for Christmas shopping.

The evening’s speaker was Joanne Halliwell – ‘Betsy the Scullery Maid’.

This was a humerous performance enacted to show the trials of life below stairs.  Dressed in period costume and telling stories from that time with audience participation, Joanne had us in peals of laughter.

We meet at 7.30pm on the last Thursday of the month at Over Peover Village Hall. There is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the speakers are invariably of a very high standard as are the homemade cakes and tea to follow. New members are most welcome.
