PRESS REPORT

OVER PEOVER WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING – THURSDAY 26TH APRIL 2012

A guest and 19 members enjoyed a very warm welcome from co-president June Leach, followed by the enthusiastic singing of Jerusalem. Apologies and minutes were read. Details of the village Jubilee Picnic on Sun 3rd June were discussed and Minty Day asked for volunteers to help stage the royal memorabilia in a gazebo and asked members to bring any memorabilia of the Coronation and the Queen’s reign. Outings, trips and invitations from other WIs were discussed and our invitations to our Garden meeting in June had been sent.
The treasurer, Rosalind Jackson, reported on the finances and Minty Day reported on the very enjoyable group meeting. Cheshire Show business was covered and members volunteered to fill flower tubs and spring clean the Village Hall.
The Speaker was Rosealie Gordon. Her subject was ‘The Egerton Family’. Members enjoyed learning more about Tatton and the fascinating history of the Egerton family.
Jan Green and Julia Jackson provided the mouth-watering refreshments and the flowers which were sent to Mrs Dorothy Barber. The speaker at the next meeting will be Jean Harding who will speak about “A C W W (Associated Country Women of the World) Cheshire Federation Projects”. The dress for the meeting will be “patriotic” – red, white and blue and nibbles and “bubbly” will be served in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
